Peer to peer network.
With Windows 98, ME, XP or  Vista 2003, we can set up a network between desktops without using a server. The  features file/print sharing and Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), a nifty feature that lets several computers share one Internet connection.  Account management and permissions, and you have a reasonably powerful engine for networking.   

Server to Workstations network.                                                                            Windows ® 2003 Server operating system is designed to let you increase the value of your existing investments while lowering overall computing costs. Specifically, Windows 2003 Server is easier to deploy, configure, and use because it provides centralized, customizable management services to reduce TCO. Further, these management services work with existing management solutions and mixed-platform distributed networks, thus allowing your IT department to get maximum value from their current infrastructure.

Wireless Network.                                                                                                  A wireless network allows computers to share printers, files or an Internet connection without any wires between them. Wireless networking hardware uses radio frequencies to transmit information between the individual computers; each computer requires a wireless network adapter. A wireless network hub or router is used to bridge the wireless network to traditional ethernet or home phoneline networks, or provide a shared Internet connection.
